Summary of Original Version Create a new section of Chapter 156 directing the Kentucky Board of Education to require a physical fitness test to be given at the beginning and end of each school year; require that the test include a measure of body mass index; provide information that may be used by the student and parents at home, and provide school councils fitness information about the student body; require schools to annually report the name of the test used and the percentage of the student body showing improvement; require 60 to 90 minutes of activity in kindergarten through grade 5; require 30 to 45 minutes of activity in half-day kindergarten; encourage regular activity opportunities for students in grades 6 through 12; require schools to disseminate information on childhood diabetes and obesity in collaboration with parent and health organizations; encourage designation of physical education teachers as school fitness leaders; make available Web-based resources, including fitness tests, program information, and activity guides.
