Summary of Original Version Amend KRS 158.070 to reiterate school closure on the day of a Presidential election; permit a school district to adjust its calendar to keep schools open on the days of a regular election, a special election, and a primary election if no school in the district is used as a polling place; allow a district to schedule election days as instructional days or make-up days for purposes of recouping instructional time missed due to weather-related, safety, or health emergencies or other disasters; direct the Department of Education to approve school calendars amended pursuant to this Act for the 2011-2012 school year; EMERGENCY.
