Summary of Original Version Create new sections of KRS Chapter 158 to allow local boards of education to establish a police department for local school districts; provide the general police powers each officer shall have in performing their duties; provide the qualifications each officer shall have at the time of their employment; provide for the appointment or promotion to the ranks and grades of the department; amend KRS 158.441 to include an officer appointed under this Act to the term "school resource officer."

Summary Retain original provisions, except provide that police officers appointed by a local board of education shall enforce and assist the school district in the enforcement of the rules, regulations, and code of conduct of the school district if permitted by local board of education policy; remove the restriction prohibiting police officers hired by a school district from carrying concealed deadly weapons unless authorized by the school district; create new sections of KRS Chapter 158 to allow the board of education to regulate the traffic and parking on property owned, used, or occupied by the local school district; prohibit a person from impersonating a police officer hired by the board of education.
